iOSOS

Developed for Innovation for Disaster Response, Recovery, and Resilience, iOSOS is an iOS-native application that help the user as well as disaster response agencies streamline disaster response in large, catastrophic incidents.

This project was developed in partnership with the United States Coast Guard, U.S. Northern Command.

User Research

I participated in over a dozen interviews with a variety of subjects, including Dept. of Defense personnel, Silicon Valley professionals, and civilians. These interviews were used to first narrow down the problem frame, then develop potential solutions and refine the final solution.

This helped me gain practical experience in conducting user research in one-on-one interviews. With the theoretical knowledge from INFO214: User Experience Research, I was able to further understand the user research process.

Final Prototypes

After a series of user testing and back-and-forth with our industry clients, we developed our final solution: iOSOS. iOSOS is an iOS native app that activates during a catastrophic incident in an area determined by an emergency agency. This agency claims leadership on all incoming rescue requests from iOSOS. Through a few simple steps, users can include information that will aid search and rescue personnel in saving as many lives as possible.

The flowchart was created in Apple Keynote, and the interactive prototype was developed in Figma. Though the prototype was primarily created by my talented teammate Hannah Pak, I learned the basics of Figma and further developed my UI/UX design skills through this project.

From this interactive prototype, I created a new interface to further integrate iOSOS with iOS, streamlining the UI further based on feedback from UX experts and emergency dispatchers.
